Caring for your baby

Newborn Parenting

One session

When to take the class: 5-7 months of pregnancy

Designed to take during the last trimester of pregnancy or just after baby is born, this class provides evidence-based information about how to care for your newborn in the early weeks. Parents and caregivers will learn about newborn health, behavior and development, basic care, family adjustment and postpartum adjustment and recovery for mothers and family members. This class will also cover guidelines for selecting a pediatrician (& what to expect in the first year of pediatric care of your child), common newborn health/medical concerns, nursery preparation, and feeding choices. This class is open to all expectant parents, adoptive parents, grandparents, caregivers, and other supportive persons who would like to prepare for the new baby. This class is taught by a Prenatal Educator and a UHealth Board-certified Pediatrician.

A tour of the UHealth Pediatric Medical Practice will be given during this class (and meet and greet/Question and Answer session with the Pediatrician).
